This new software module from Cogiscan presents an innovative approach to an old industry problem. The most demanding and complicated task for operators of SMT lines is to perform a product changeover. A large number of chemicals, components, feeders, tooling, and machine programs that are sometimes visually identical (similar part numbers and descriptions) must be loaded at the right location at the right time. Due to the sheer number of elements that must be validated, this task is prone to human error. If undetected, these setup errors can result in volumes of scrap, rework, and customer quality issues.
